#OsunDecides: Tension in Iragbiji as party agents disagree

Published by

THERE was tension in some polling units in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State on Saturday as vote counting commenced.

Arguments arose among party agents when security agents and the officials of the INEC insisted that voters should maintain a distance from the counting point in order to avoid crowding.

With the early arrival of election materials to the various units in Boripe, Ifelodun and Odo-Otin local government areas of the state, election started at exactly 8:00 am with large turnout of people.

Accreditation and voting were done side by side without any itch until counting started around 2:00pm.

However, in some polling units in Iragbiji, Ororuwo and Aagba, voting was delayed for more than an hour, as some card readers were malfunctioning.

A voter in Aagba, who gave his name as Samson Iwaloye, expressed fear that a long delay could mar the process.

Some young voters became agitated, as the delay was prolonged but the matter was later fixed and the tension in the units was doused.

In Okuku, there was only one reported case of malfunctioning card readers.

Another card reader was brought to replace the malfunctioning one and the process ran smoothly until around 3:00pm when voting was closed in the unit.

The process was also peaceful in Ila Orangun, Ajaba, Edemosi and environs.
