Osun woos world for Agritech Nigeria 2018

GOVERNOR of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Wednesday intimated a gathering of accredited ambassadors and high commissioners in Nigeria of derivable benefits from their countries participation at the International Agricultural Technology Exhibition (Agritech) scheduled to hold in November this year.

Agritech is one of the world’s most important exhibitions in the field of agricultural technologies where over 100 countries and thousands of businesses exhibit latest technological innovations in all agricultural value chains.

Aregbesola, who was represented by his Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Kunle Ige said the international exhibition and conference was being organized jointly by the Federal Government and Osun State Government with the theme Transformation of Nigerian Agriculture Through Sustainable Technological Innovation.

According to him, “Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 comes at a period when the Federal Government of Nigeria was diversifying the economy by enhancing massive influx of agricultural investments into the economy.”

He told his audience that Nigeria is a land of opportunities, the largest market in Africa with a population of about 200 million.

“Forty-five million Nigerians are into farming, both smallholders and commercial farming. These farmers need your countries’ agricultural technologies and innovations to increase their agricultural productions.”

The Governor disclosed that participants were being expected from around the world and across the full spectrum of agriculture.

“More importantly, we want each country to have its own pavilion where the country will showcase and exhibit its rich agricultural technology and potentials at Agritech Nigeria Osun 2018 even while agricultural and allied companies in your countries are also called upon to use this event to exhibit and market their products.”
