Osun REC dispels rumour, says INEC office not burnt in Oriade

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Osun, Mr Olusegun Agbaje on Sunday described as untrue the trending news report that the umpire office in Ijebu Jesa of Oriade local government area had been razed by hoodlums.
Speaking against the backdrop of the reported development, Agbaje said only power generating set and some office items were set ablaze by the hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday.
Reacting over the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs Folasade Odoro said: “some hoodlums wielding guns and firing sporadically, attempted to raid INEC office in Ijebu-jesa, Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.”
She added that “in the process which was duly repelled by men of Nigeria Police Force, INEC power generator kept outside caught fire and subsequently affected some empty ballot boxes and mats kept outside.”
“However, the situation is presently under control while intensified efforts are being made in bringing the culprits to book.’
