Osun Police parades suspected internet fraudster for allegedly duping American of $80,000

AUTHORITIES of the Osun State Police Command paraded a suspected internet fraudster, Agboola Femi, who allegedly duped an American of $80,000 dollars

Parading the suspect before newsmen in Osogbo on Monday, Osun State Commissioner of Police Mr Fimihan Adeoye said, the suspect usually posed as a woman to his unsuspecting victims on a dating site on the internet.

Adeoye said a victim who was looking for a serious relationship was however scammed by the suspect to the tune of 80,000 dollars.

He further explained that when the suspect was apprehended, he admitted duping the American woman, but argued that he only collected $43,000 and not $80,000.

Speaking during a chat with journalists, the suspect disclosed that he started internet fraud in 2015, saying if he was able to get himself out of the current case, he would stop defrauding people.

Adeoye, however, hinted that Femi was arrested with the help of a good Nigerian, just as he urged the general public to volunteer useful information that could help in ridding the state of criminals

He decried the rate at which young people now engage in internet fraud, observing that this worrisome development shows that the youths were not ready to work again.

Others paraded include a gang of three led by 23 year old Shefiu Olayinka who specialises in buying stolen motorcycles and reselling them. About 12 motorcycles were recovered from the gang.
