Osun PDP, too disorganised to take up governance responsibility ―APC

Published by
THE All Progressive Congress (APC), Osun State chapter, on Sunday took on the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, contending that the party is “too disorganized, disoriented and maladjusted for the serious responsibility of governance”.

In a statement issued by the director of publicity, research and strategy of the APC, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi, a copy of which was made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Osogbo, the party hinged its position on what it termed continued crisis, dogging the PDP, despite interventions from opposition’s national leadership in Abuja.

According to the APC, “the intractable power struggle within Osun PDP is symptomatic of the “greed and inordinate ambition of an individual within the party, who wants to be governor at all costs regardless of the fact that he is politically spent, unpopular and technically unqualified to run for that office”.

The statement reads, “the rank and file of Osun PDP leadership appears to have no idea what they want to do to make the state better. The only thing they have been doing in the last seven years is to concoct and spread lies against the person and actions of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. In the process, they lost the ability to even articulate a substitute plan to that of Aregbesola-led APC government. Truth is that the PDP has no plan because it is empty; so there is nothing to articulate anyway”.

Reacting to the position of the APC, one of the leaders of the PDP in Osun, Dr Muyiwa Oladimejim who spoke to our correspondent on the phone said “it is easier for them to look at the bad side of the PDP and not look at their own bad side. The PDP, being a democratic party, we are resolving our issue democratically and not dictatorially as they are. But, that does not mean that we are disorganised. They are the ones that are disorganised and has lost the conscience to rule Osun”.

He stated, “APC has no conscience to rule Osun anymore because they have brought misery to Osun, PDP, being a democratic party, we are resolving our issue democratically and not in a dictatorial manner like that of APC. Nobody dictates in the PDP, we agree and also disagree to resolve our issue. PDP can govern Osun and it will govern Osun, it would not bring poverty and misery to Osun as the APC had done.
“What are they (APC) governing? They are governing with misery, unemployment, without paying salaries. Is that governing? They’re not paying the salaries of the people and bringing poverty to more and more people, with failures in WAEC and NECO to the kids. Is that governance? That is bad governance”.
He continued, “all the achievements of the PDP in government are visible. We set six university campuses at a time without owing money. They are the ones turning things round negatively. There is nothing to show for it, they are behaving like father, who cannot feed his kids, but his painting his house. That is what APC is doing. You are painting your housemate but you cannot feed yours kids. That kind of father is not a responsible father.”
