Osun partners ITF to establish zonal headquarters for technical training

The Osun State Government has announced that the collaboration of the government with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) on Technical and Vocational Training has positioned the state as the hub and zonal headquarters of the ITF Industrial Skills Training Center

The government made the announcement through the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Technical and Vocational Education, Hon Dapo Ademola-Adesina, who added that the move is in alignment with Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to promote vocational services, skills acquisition and empowerment programs for the economic development in the state.

Ademola-Adesina, had earlier on May 30, 2024, paid the agency a visit and had proposed a collaboration with the Osun State Board for Technical and Vocational Education in the areas of Vocational and Skill Training, Skill-Up Artisans (SUPA) as well as Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES).

The collaboration became successful as the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of the Industrial Training Fund; Dr. Afiz Oluwatoyin Ogun sent his team to inspect various vocational sites on Tuesday, August 13.

During the inspection, the team which was led by Mr Victor Babatunde Awoniyi, a Director at the ITF Abuja Office inspected three vocational training centres located in Dagbolu, Iragbiji and Igbajo.

Also on the ITF team were Mr Fanope J. Adekunle; the Manager of the Ikeja Industrial skill training center, Mr Dalyop Peter; Area Manager Ibadan ITF office, Mr Oluwatayo Ayobami; Principal Ibadan Training centre and Mr Ayinde Omotosho Hakeem, the Area Manager of ITF Ikeja office.

The ITF team was received by the Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, Hon. Bayo Ogunbangbe, on behalf of the Deputy Governor of the state.

The government team on the joint inspection exercise included the Executive Secretary of the Board for Technical and vocational Education, Mr Samson Omigbodun; Director of Administration and Supplies, Mr.Segun Agboola; Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Oduola Tajudeen and Mr Fatai Raji- Director of Finance ( SDG Office).

The ITF team expressed their satisfaction with the facilities on ground and the state government’s commitment to uplifting vocational education within the state to curb unemployment.
