The Osun State Chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) announced on Wednesday its decision to confer outstanding awards on both past and present governors of the state for their contributions to the advancement of Osun State.
The chairman of IPAC, Pastor Victor Akande, revealed this at a press conference in Osogbo. He listed those to be honoured as Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who will receive a posthumous award; Chief Bisi Akande; Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola; and the incumbent governor, Asiwaju Ademola Adeleke.
According to Akande, “During their times, they rendered impeccable services that touched the lives of the people of the state in a remarkable way, and history will forever be grateful to them.”
“Some of them have proven their integrity as good ambassadors of Osun State at the federal level, and we need to let them know that we are monitoring them closely.”
Akande explained that past military administrators were not considered for honours, as IPAC aims to celebrate inclusive governance and democracy in the state.
“When the group considered the sterling attributes and the great contributions of these governors, they felt that the beneficiaries deserved their honour to serve as encouragement for future generations.”
“The programme is targeted at politicians who were excellent administrators, politicians of repute, and men who did their best to transform the business, economic, social, and political landscape of Osun State.”
He stated that the event, scheduled for December 5, 2024, will take place at Atlantis Event Centre, Ring Road, Osogbo, the state capital, at 11 a.m. The theme for the event will be “THE PLATFORM: Inclusive Governance.”
