The Osun State Government in collaboration with the State chapter of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture and BTG Africa with the support of Dagbolu International Trade Centre have concluded arrangements to host the maiden South-West Trade Fair starting from November 28, 2021, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Osun State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr Olabode Olaonipekun, made this known during the unveiling of the Trade Fair prospectus in Osogbo.
He said The Trade Fair with the theme: “Stimulating Values Addition Through Digital Economy For Nigeria’s Sustainable Development” is expected to attract not less than 2000 exhibitors, 200 Local Governments and 100,000 visitors and over one million online shoppers, pointing out that the event will feature the south-west local governments’ trade fair, business to the customer trade fair and virtual trade fair and conferences.
“All the local governments in the South-West in particular and those from the other regions are all invited to showcase their unique products to the entire global space.
“The Trade Fair will also attract investors from all over the world, creating the platform for them to source local contents from States where materials are sourced,” he said.
According to him, the trade fair is a platform for business operators, manufacturers, producers, wholesalers and distributors of different products and services to meet and exchange ideas and seal numerous business deals.
He also hinted that private, public and international investors and business stakeholders have registered their intentions to attend the event in order to achieve their business goals.
He said the participants, traders, distributors, manufacturers and investors will have the rare opportunity to visit the Dagbolu International Trade Centre.
“It must be noted that DITC is an International Trade Centre with an industrial park, lands for the construction of plants, warehouses, shopping malls, parks, cinema, trading stores and a residential area; where lands can be acquired for residential purposes with flexible package and incentives.
In his remark, Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr Dayo Adewole, said the Trade Fair would give the platform for farmers and other stakeholders to showcase their agricultural produce.
Adewole stated that the Trade Fair would be of great benefit to the people of the State, adding that it was not only meant for the State Government or Ministry of Commerce but for the growth and development of businesses in the State.
President, Osun Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (OSUCCIMA), Mr Bisi Makanjuola, said it has become imperative for the State to organise a Trade Fair to re-awaken and stimulate business activities in the State and the geo-political zone.
Makanjuola said the Chambers of Commerce, though had not held a Trade Fair in over 15 Years, is all out to hold a record-breaking Trad Fair, thanking the State Government for creating an enabling environment for this Year’s Trade Fair to hold.
He said the event was aimed at bringing to the fore the value chain that needed to be identified and developed.
Dr Owoyemi Delight, the Management Consultant of Osun Trade Fair, said the Trade Fair themed “Stimulating Value Addition Through Digital Economy for Nigeria’s Sustainable Development” would serve as a veritable platform for businesses, investors and decision-makers.
