Osun Bye Election: Why we support Ademola Adeleke ―Osun PDP chairman

THE Senator Ahmed Makarfi faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun, led by Dr Bayo Faforiji, on Wednesday in Osogbo attributed the support of the group to the candidate of the PDP in July 8 bye election, Dr Ademola Adeleke to the need to put an end to the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

They contended that their support was also predicated on the recognition and respect for their leader and former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

In a communique issued at the end of its stakeholders’ meeting, Faforiji, who is factional chairman of the PDP in the state said that we are deploying all our support and strategies for the flag bearer of the PDP to win in the crucial July 8 election.

The communique reads in part, “we met at our party secretariat in Ogo Oluwa, Osogbo on the recent developments, concerning the pending July 8 bye election and resolves as follows”.

“That as mark of honour and respect for our leader, Senator Iyiola Omisore  and in recognition of the needs and yearnings of people of Osun State to put an end to Aregbesola and APC maladministration in the state, we resolved today to co-sponsor and support Dr Ademola Adeleke as our candidate in July 8 bye election”.

“That we salute the courage of the ten members from our side in the 20-man committee set up by leaders from both Sherrif and Makarfi factions on the joint agreement signed on the leadership tussle in Osun State PDP and hereby states that we stand by that agreement in the interest of the PDP in particular and Osun State in general”.

While expressing optimism over a victory in the bye election and the forthcoming 2018 governorship poll in Osun, Faforiji maintained that “time has come to ensure total liberation of the state and its people”, adding that “all eligible voters must not be hoodwinked by deceptive politicians by voting massively for the PDP in the two critical elections”.
