Against the backdrop of the primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Osun state Chapter, scheduled to hold in Osogbo
on Friday, the party is currently holding an emergency meeting with its 17 governorship contenders already cleared to partake in the exercise.
There was a presence of heavy security around the secretariat of the ruling party, located along around Ogo-Oluwa area of Osogbo as a sizable number of policemen, operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) were sighted with their patrol vans and Hilux jeeps parked in the frontage of the office facility.
Similarly, one Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was also permanently stationed in front of the party’s secretariat to ensure effective security around the area.
Some of the aspirants who are in attendance at the parley include the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Najeem Salaam, the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon Lasun Yussuff, Hon Gafaar Amere, the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Mr Saka Layonu, Hon Yinka Ajayi and Engineer Aderenle Oriolowo.
Others include Mr Kunle Adegoke, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Chief Peter Babalola and host of others.
Speaking to Nigerian Tribune, one of the aspirants, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola said he was at the party secretariat to attend the meeting, saying he would abide by the decision reached at the end of the meeting as a loyal party man and committee member of the APC.
