Osun 2018: We’ll run robust, peaceful, people-oriented campaign ― PDP

THE Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday, said it would run a robust, peaceful and people-oriented campaign to canvass for the electorate’s votes ahead of September 22 governorship poll in the state.

In a statement signed by the head of media and public communication of the Ademola Adeleke campaign organisation, Mr Bamidele Salam, which was forwarded to the Tribune Online in Osogbo, the PDP hinted that its electioneering campaign would begin on Tuesday with an inter-faith and inter-denominational prayers at the party secretariat, located around Biket area, in Osogbo.

According to the statement, “Osun state chapter of the PDP is ready to run a robust, peaceful and people-oriented campaign ahead of the September governorship poll.”

The statement reads, “there would be public presentation of the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke and his deputy, Hon Albert Abiodun Adeogun at a world press conference to be addressed by the state chairman of the party, Hon Soji Adagunodo.

“On Wednesday 29th August, the state chairman will also lead the governorship candidate and his running mate, the Director-General of the campaign organisation, Mr Lere Oyewunmi and other party stalwarts to commence a 3-day campaign visit to the three senatorial districts of Osun state where thousands of decampees from the All Progressives Congress (APC) the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and other political parties will be received into the PDP in the 9 federal constituencies.”

“The campaign tour kicks off on Wednesday with a visit to Ikire, Iwo and Ede Federal constituencies while it will be the turn of Ila, Ikirun and Osogbo federal constituencies on Thursday.”

“On Friday 31st August, the Osun East Senatorial District will play host to the PDP candidate and party leaders as the party receive new decampees in Ile-Ife, Ilesa and Ijebu-Jesa,” the statement concluded.
