Osun 2018: Oyinlola, Omisore, others ’ll come back to PDP if… —Bello

Published by

Former Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Adejare Bello has said a former governor of the state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola; ex-deputy governor, Senator Iyiola Omisore and others, who have parted ways with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would come back to the opposition party, if he emerges as the standard bearer of his party ahead September 22 gubernatorial poll.

Adejare, who was the running mate to Omisore during the August 9, 2014 governorship poll in Osun State made the assertion during an interview with journalists in Osogbo.

According to him, “Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Omisore know the inherent qualities in me. The incumbent speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, knows that I am for good governance. I am not selfish and I have the interest of the state at heart. The thinking that some supporters of Omisore would not support me is out of place. Omisore and his supporters would join me and team up with the PDP to win September election.”

He also said: “The national leadership of the party had met with us, I mean all the governorship aspirants. The PDP has not even come up with the amount we would pay for nomination form. If it is not more than N5 million, it is not outrageous. It is not true that a candidate has been picked. We met with the national chairman, Uche Secondus and he said we should go and work at home on how to get delegates, who will vote during the primary exercise.

“He (Secondus) said he would not condone aspirants bringing money to Abuja. And, the national leadership has shown transparency with Ekiti primary. It is not true that the APC has opened up communication with me. I have not been disqualified by my party. It is a rumour and it is not true. That has not happened and I don’t have plan to dump the PDP. By the grace of God, I would emerge as the standard bearer of the party.”

Meanwhile, Omisore is set to deliver this year’s biennial conference lecture of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers (SLIE) with the theme Role of ICT in Sustainable National Development Possible Sub-Themes.
