Moshood Adeoti
AS the countdown to September 22 governorship poll in Osun begins, the flag bearer of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, on Tuesday declared that had no plan to give up his ambition or form alliance with any political party.
He urged his supporters, party loyalists and the people of Osun State to discountenance what he termed laughable speculations that he wanted to surrender his mandate as the standard bearer of the ADP and workout alliance with any political party.
Adeoti, who is the immediate past Secretary to Osun State Government (SSG) and former gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) made these disclosures in a statement forwarded to the Tribune Online in Osogbo.
He averred that “as a governorship candidate of the ADP, I want to described as untrue, a recent rumour making the rounds that I have concluded plans to surrender my mandate and align with one of the political parties and its candidate ahead of the September 22 gubernatorial election in Osun State.”
The statement, which was signed by his director of media and publicity, Mr Kayode Agbaje reads thus, the decision to contest in the governorship election was never for any self-serving reason but in the best interest of the masses. I didn’t just wake up one day to say I wanted to contest in the governorship election for self-serving purpose. I have the support of the people who believe in my ability to take Osun to the next level.”

“The ADP candidate further stated that since he secured the ADP’s governorship ticket, the thought to surrendering his supporters’ mandate has never for once crossed his mind. While I want to use this opportunity to appeal to my teeming supporters in the ADP and those in other parties to disregard such rumours from the pit of hell, I also want to warn the masterminds of such rumours to desist and stop from causing confusion among the electorate.”
He, however, cautioned the masterminds of the rumour to desist from causing confusion among his supporters, adding that it was imperative for all lovers of Osun and major stakeholders to team up with the ADP in enhancing the development of the state.
Reacting over the rumoured development, former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osun State, Mr Sunday Akere, who is also one of the ADP chieftains assured that the ADP doors are wide open for members of other political parties in the state to effective synergy in achieving electoral victory on the 22nd of September.
He posited that “the ADP remains the party to beat in the September 22 governorship election and its candidate, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti can’t afford to waste the people’s support for his ambition by surrendering the mandate to another candidate from another party. Those harbouring the thought should rather bury it, as our party, and its candidate is not available for sale,” Akere.
