Osolo stool: Royal family affirms Aregbeshola’s selection

The Alagbeji Royal Family of Isolo Kingdom in Lagos State has raised the alarm over the activities of impostors masquerading that they have the backing of the family regarding the Osolo throne, affirming that Alhaji Saheed Ishola Aregbeshola from the Alabe branch of the family remained the popular choice for the vacant stool.

Head of the family (Olori Ebi), Alhaji Taorid Faronbi, popularly known as Alado, made this known in a statement, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, saying the impostors, of whom he did mention their names, were using all sorts of unwholesome tricks to hoodwink unsuspecting members of the public.

According to him, such people have been going about alleging that he signed letters endorsing certain persons vying for the Isolo throne, saying that such a claim was absolutely untrue and, therefore, called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his Deputy, Dr. Hamzat; and the Commissioner for the Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Bolaji Robert, to disregard any correspondence outside the one with the name of Saheed Ishola Aregbeshola as the family’s choice for the royal stool.

Besides, Faronbi equally called on the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Mr Olanrewaju Ishola, to immediately arrest and prosecute those threatening the peace of Isolo Kingdom through fake correspondence to the authorities on Isolo Kingdom Obaship, saying that it was criminal and absolutely incorrect for some element desperate to occupy the exalted throne of Osolo to claim that he signed any letter other than that affirming Aregbeshola for the vacant stool.

“For the records and the attention of the Governor of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, I, Alhaji Taorid Faronbi, head of the Alagbeji Royal Family of Isolo Kingdom, hereby declare unequivocally that the only candidate whose nomination I forwarded to the authorities is Alhaji Saheed Aregbeshola.

“I did this following correspondences from Isolo kingmakers and Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), following earlier correspondences from them on the subject matter.

“These bodies wrote to me in my capacity as the head of the Alabeji Royal Family, asking me to write to the next ruling house under the Alagbeji Royal Family.

“I make hold to say that I wrote the Alabe Branch, which is next in line to produce the next Osolo, through my lawyer, and Alhaji Saheed Ishola Arebeshola was unanimously put forward by the family for the vacant stool.

“Thereafter, I wrote to the kingmakers and Isolo LCDA of the choice of Aregbeshola by the family that is supposed to produce the next Osolo,” he said.

”It is, therefore, criminal and absolutely incorrect for some rogue element desperate to occupy the exalted throne of Osolo to claim that I signed any letter other than that affirming Saheed Ishola Aregbeshola.

“I, therefore, call on Governor Sanwo-Olu, his Deputy, Dr. Hamzat, and the Commissioner for the Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs to disregard any correspondence outside the one with the name of Saheed Ishola Aregbeshola.

“I also call on the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State to immediately arrest and prosecute those threatening the peace of Isolo kingdom through fake correspondence to the authorities on Isolo kingdom Obaship,” he added.
