ACTING President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has said that micro, small, and medium business operators in Nigeria have roles to play in the efforts at repositioning the nation’s economy.
Speaking at the opening of a three-day Micro, Small and Medium scale Entrepreneurs (MSME) clinic in Ilorin on Thursday, the vice president said the incumbent administration was determined to reform the micro, small and medium scale sector of the economy because of its significance.
The Acting President, who was represented by Mr. Tola Johnson, a Special Assistant on MSME in his office, promised to review the outcomes of the Clinics being organised across the country.
“Any nation that is serious about growth must support MSME, hence the determination of the administration to focus on the sector. Therefore this program is designed to bridge the gap between those doing business and those regulating the business because we have understood that most SMES have issues with access to these regulators”, he said
Also speaking, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed pledged stronger support for MSMEs in order create more jobs and stimulate the economy.
Ahmed who was impressed by the creativity of the SMEs and the quality of their products, said the government would support them through patronage and capacity building.
An impressed Governor Ahmed bought a pair of leather sandals made by Offa-based Itelle Shoes, business with an annual turn over of N2.5m and several employees.
Alhaji Ahmed said the sandals and other shoes made by Itelle Shoes can compare with any imported brand.
Governor Ahmed was also informed that KWIRS has ordered Ankara PC Covers, made by another MSME from Kwara State.
