Osinbajo defends FG’s handling of herdsmen killings, loans, Leah Shuaibu rescue efforts

VICE President Yemi Osinbajo, on Friday, in Osogbo, Osun State capital defended the federal government’s handling of worrisome killings by rampaging herdsmen in some parts of the country, obtaining of Sukuk loans from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to fund capital projects and efforts being made to ensure the release of Leah Shuaibu the only Christian student, who is still in the captivity of the Boko Haram.

He maintained that President Muhammadu Buhari was resolutely committed to permanently end the mass killings, being allegedly perpetrated by some rampaging herders in some states in the North, most especially Benue, Taraba and Zamfara.

Addressing congregation of clergies at a forum of “Greater Nigeria Pastors Conference”, Osinbajo asserted that “we must not allow the narrative being said about some issues to survive. There’s great determination to end the killings and hold accountable anybody arrested. We have to be very careful. We must put whatever happens in a context. If we don’t handle it carefully, we may put the country in a civil war.”
