Oshiomhole as APC chairman: I was misquoted ― Bauchi lawmaker

THE member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Lere/Bula constituency of Tafawa Balewa LGA, Muhammad Aminu Tukur has said that he was misquoted out context as regards the leadership qualities of the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

While reacting to the news in the media that he referred to the National Chairman of the APC as a failure, the lawmaker said that he never condemned the National chairman but that he (Adams Oshiomhole) is unfortunate to be working with bad subordinates who are misdirecting the affairs of the party.

Aminu Tukur opined that Adams Oshiomhole has been a good leader right from his labour unionism days in Kaduna up to the national level but as the National Chairman of the APC he is not lucky with supporting staff.

The lawmaker who dumped the APC for APP in order to contest the recent Bauchi south senatorial by-election declared that the leadership crisis rocking the party in most of the states can be traced to the National Secretary of the party who he accused of hijacking the party.

While praising the leadership qualities of Adams Oshiomhole, Aminu Tukur expressed optimism that if he is able to check the excesses of the National Secretary, the party will do better.

On the recent alarm raised by his colleague in the House representing Dass constituency, Maryam Garba Bagel, the lawmaker said that she has the right to raise the alarm since it is her life that is in danger.

He added that as a member of the APC in Bauchi state she has been sidelined and not carried along thereby forcing her out of the party to another party under which she contested and lost the recent Bauchi south senatorial by-election.
