Osemudiamen on oxygen for 22 days, needs N2.5m to fix hole-in-the-heart

PARENTS of nine-month-old Osemudiamen Edionseri have appealed to the governor of Edo State and other kind Nigerians to rescue their son from a hole-in-the-heart condition medically known as Atrial Septal Defect.

Edionseri, who is at the verge of death at the Paediatric Cardiology Unit of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), was diagnosed of the ailment on July 14, 2018 at the Children Emergency Ward of UBTH

With the large Atrial Septal Defect said to be measuring 14mm on echocardiography, the ailing boy is said to surviving on oxygen for the past 22 days.

A reference statement signed by Prof Wilson Sadoh, dated July 24, 2018 and made available to Tribune Online on Sunday said Osemudiamen would need an estimate of N2. 5 million to undergo surgery in the country.

“He’s very sick because of the defect and would require surgery to correct it and the estimated cost is N2. 5 million in Nigeria,” Prof Sadoh stated.
