OSCOTECH matriculates 3,977 students

The Rector of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Dr Samson Adegoke, has warned students of the institution not to fall victim to entrusting their financial transactions to fraudsters disguised as middlemen on campus.

Adegoke gave the warning on Friday during the matriculation of new intakes numbering three Thousand Nine Hundred and Seventy-Seven (3977)
for the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma 2023/2024 academic session, held at the school auditorium.

The institution Rector said the newly admitted students must acquire a skill in any vocation of their choice through the school Vocational centre before graduating.

He added that the centre also has provisions for training the unemployed, underemployed, retirees and professionals who want to be certified, and people of similar intents in skills acquisition in any discipline.

He admonished the students to be good ambassadors of the school, urging them to shun vices that could jeopardise their admission.

He said, “Always avoid the use of middlemen to pay prescribed fees so as not to fall into the hands of fraudsters, rather use the e-payment platform on the College portal for every payment and collect relevant receipts from the Bursary Department.

“Our Programmes are tailored towards making our graduates self-reliant instead of waiting for white-collar jobs that are not available.

“Dear Matriculants, as you fully become students of Osun State College of Technology Esa-Oke today, I am admonishing you to be good ambassadors of this College. Shun cultism and other vices capable of tarnishing the good reputation of the College.”

” Let me inform you that the College Management has zero tolerance for behaviours capable of denting the College’s image. OSCOTECH has high academic standards, that she will not compromise under any circumstance.”

“The College has a well-equipped vocational center known as the Center for Entrepreneurship, Vocation Skills Acquisition and Empowerment CEVSAE). At this Centre, students can learn vocations they can rely on after graduation. As a matter of fact, the pre-condition for graduation is that each student must acquire a skill in any vocation of his/her choice before graduating at both ND and HND levels.

“The Centre also has provision for training the unemployed, underemployed, retirees, professionals who want to be certified, and people of similar intents in skills acquisition in any discipline. The programmes are designed in short courses aimed at impacting skills required in all workplaces for professionalism, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

“Dear matriculating Students, I advise you to comport yourselves as good ambassadors of this College. Our Institution will continue to enjoy an uninterrupted Academic calendar as long as Students abide by the School rules and regulations.
