THE Special Adviser to the governor on Special Duties, Mr Joseph Kiyagba has resigned his appointment from the cabinet of Governor Samuel Ortom in Benue State.
Confirming this to Nigerian Tribune on Wednesday, acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Bem Melladu, said that the adviser had turned in his resignation letter.
The SSG said that the state executive council accepted his resignation letter but declined comment on the reasons the former special adviser adduced for his resignation.
“It is true that the former special adviser to the governor on special duty, Joseph Kiyagba, has resigned his appointment and the state executive council has accepted his resignation letter. But I cannot tell you reasons adduced for his resignation. I think that is personal to him,” he said.
The aide, before his resignation, had been battling with an alleged murder case in court, warranting the assignment of his portfolio to the Special Adviser to the governor on Revenue, Honourable Benjamin Anchaver.
He was arraigned and remanded in prison by the chief magistrate, Mrs Theresa Wergba, in June 6, 2016, over the alleged murder of a Senior Special Assistant on security to governor Ortom, Mr Denne Igbane in May this year.
He had, however, been granted bail since July, 11, 2016.
