Ortom orders aides interested in contesting in 2019 to quit

GOVERNOR Samuel Ortom of Benue state has ordered all his appointees interested in any elective office in 2019 to resign latest end of this month.

In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase and made available to our correspondent in Makurdi on Saturday, the governor said all the aides who so desire in running for the 2019 elections to resign before the 29th of this month or be sacked.

The statement said that the decision by the governor was to give the affected appointees enough time to concentrate on their campaign programmes while paving way for others to assume such positions and also contribute to the development of the state.

Also in another statement by the CPS, governor Samuel Ortom has also directed the suspension of the proposed privatisation of government enterprises.

The statement added that the decision to suspend the privatisation process is in respect of the concerns expressed by the people of the state regarding the development.

The statement added, “governor Ortom is to make further consultations with stakeholders before deciding on the next line of action in the best interest of the state.”
