Governor Samuel Ortom
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state yesterday assured workers of his administration to implement the approved national minimum wage.
Ortom gave the assurance at the celebration of the 2019 workers day held at IBB Square, Makurdi.
He said that he had set in motion a machinery to work towards the payment of the arrears of salaries owed all Benue workers as well as pensioners.
The governor further said that his administration was determined to employ a multi-dimensional approach in solving the problems of salary payment.

He said that his administration would continue to work harder in order to earn more from our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)
He also promised that the government would reduce the cost of governance as well as embracing Agriculture as the cornerstone of the State’s economic growth and industrialisation.
He regretted that the state was still owing workers.
“Let me stress that as very critical stakeholders, we are worried that Benue workers are still being owed arrears of salary.
Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Godwin Anya called on the governor to hasten to clear the salary arrears owed workers in the state, implement the new minimum wage of N30.000.00, incremental arrears of 2018. pensions and gratuity. 65 years of retirement age for non-teaching staff at the tertiary institutions. among others.
