Orji Kalu lauds Edo election, dismisses health rumours

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, former governor of Abia, has spoken out after his recent trip to the United States, addressing various issues affecting Nigeria.

In a candid conversation with journalists, Kalu attributed the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the Edo election to the party leadership’s tireless efforts.

“The election is about numbers – when you have the numbers, you win. APC is the most organised and united party right now,” Kalu stated.

The Senator also dismissed rumours about his death, jokingly saying he “died for five days and then woke up!” before clarifying that he took time off to study democracy and economy at a US university.

Regarding Nigeria’s economic challenges, Kalu acknowledged the hardships faced by Nigerians. He commended President Bola Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, despite the difficulties they’ve brought to many Nigerians.

“The president is very courageous. No president in the last 60 years has had the courage to do what he’s doing now in terms of reforming the economy,” Kalu said.

Kalu urged President Tinubu to provide quick relief to alleviate Nigerians’ hardships.

“I appeal to the president to bring succor quickly. The condition of Nigerian people is not too good, and something needs to be done quickly,” Kalu added.

The senator also expressed condolences on the passing of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, reflecting on the inevitability of death.
