Former governor of Abia state, Chief Orji Kalu on Wednesday decamped to All Progressives Congress (APC) and was officially received by the APC National Chairman, Chief Odigie Oyegun.
The National Chairman of the APC who received the former governor in company of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) thanked him for joining the party.
While decrying the state of APC in South East and South-South, Chief Oyegun said that, “We have one Senator in the South-South and one Senator in the South-East. As a party we want every part of this nation to be represented.”
The former governor had on Tuesday dumped his former party, Progressives People’s Alliance (PPA).
The former governor in his speech said he decided to join the party following pressure from friends and well wishers.
Chief Kalu, however, promised to abide by the norms and laws of the party.
He also said that he would not run for any political office as he joined the party, saying, “I am not going to run for any office.”
