The outgoing Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Dr Ben Oramalugo, formally handed over to the new head, Comptroller Joseph Adelaja, at the weekend.

This was made known in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, ASC Abdulmalik Akintola, also newly posted to the area command.

The event, which took place at the operational headquarters of the Command in Ibadan, Oyo State, marked a significant transition in leadership.

At the handing-over ceremony, Comptroller Oramalugo, who served in the Command for 16 months before his redeployment to another area command, spoke on the successes recorded during his tenure, including revenue generation, anti-smuggling operations and enforcement of customs regulations.

These achievements, he said, contributed positively to the socio-economic growth of the region and the country at large.

In his parting shots, Dr. Oramalugo expressed his gratitude to the officers and men of the Command for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure.

He emphasised the importance of teamwork and discipline in achieving the mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service, urging the Command to remain resolute in the fight against illicit trade and smuggling.

In his remarks, Comptroller Adelaja expressed his appreciation for the warm reception extended to him.

Affirming his commitment to building on the legacy left by his predecessor, Comptroller Adelaja also promised to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service, including integrity, professionalism, and service excellence.

He assured of his readiness to ensure that the Command continues to contribute significantly to the collection of government revenue and the fight against economic sabotage.

Senior officers of the Command were in attendance at the ceremony.
