Opposition behind call for SGF suspension, Arewa group alleges

Published by

The Arewa Youth Assembly has alleged that the oppositions are responsible for recent calls demanding the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, over claims of corruption.

In a statement released on Monday, the group dismissed the allegations as politically motivated and unfounded, accusing a group identified as Arewa United Patriots of being a “faceless” and fictitious organization created solely to smear the reputation of the SGF and distract him from his official responsibilities.

“The SGF, Senator George Akume, is an honest man who believes in transparency and accountability in service,” Mohammed Salihu Danlami, Speaker of the Arewa Youth Assembly said.

“These attacks are nothing but a coordinated effort to tarnish his image and undermine the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”, he noted.

According to the group, the allegations are part of a larger conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the current government by targeting key figures committed to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The group stressed that Senator Akume has no links to any corruption, bribery, or money laundering activities.

Calling on the public to disregard what it described as fake and inciteful, the Arewa Youth Assembly urged President Tinubu to ignore the suspension calls.

Instead, the group called for security agencies to investigate the origin and motives of the Arewa United Patriots, which they believe is being used to incite public unrest and possibly disrupt national stability.

“If the President were to act on every baseless allegation from faceless groups, the Federal Cabinet would be empty,” Danlami added.

The Arewa Youth Assembly reaffirmed its support for Senator Akume, applauding his dedication and loyalty to the service of the Nigerian people.
