The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr Gbolagade Okeniyi, has said that the need to ensure that the dividends of democracy and development get to every nook and cranny informed the decision to grade and rehabilitate some roads within the council.
Okeniyi, who took over from Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who now represents Oyo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said he is committed to the development of the council and the people, adding that more than 200 kilometres of roads have been graded, opened up and rehabilitated.
Okeniyi said, “we have not relented in our efforts to make life more abundant for our people. Education, health, agriculture and rural development, youth and women empowerment and others have been given top priority since we came on board.
“These are in line with the restoration agenda of our leader and governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and we are not going to derail. Our father, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, has been very supportive.
“Apart from the grading of roads across the council, we have rehabilitated some and dredged some rivers to allow free passage of water and to prevent flooding. We believe when there are access and link roads, it will aid the people’s movement as they go about transacting business,” he noted.
