THE Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA) has trained and empowered 62 youths from Ogun Central Senatorial District on various entrepreneurial skills.
At the 3-day Youth Training and Empowerment Programme organised by the agency, the beneficiaries were trained in the art of soap-making, confectionaries and fish-smoking to ensure self -sufficiency and employment generation.
Addressing the participants at the end of the training, the OORBDA Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Engr Olufemi Odumosu said the programme was geared towards making the participants self-reliant and economically empowered.

He handed over empowerment materials and a ‘take-off’ grant to the beneficiaries by making them employers of labour, promising that the Authority would embark on monitoring and evaluation visit to access the participants.
“The 3-day programme no doubt, I believe, had impacted requisite skills, transferred knowledge and opened the participant’s eyes to the mechanics and dynamics of successful entrepreneurial potentials, its capacities, and the opportunities lying untapped in each of them.
“This programme is a rare opportunity to self-discovery, putting an end to job-search to settle down for real business, a gold-mine business that can transform their fortune and take them from where they are to where they want to be,” the OORBDA said.
