The ancient kingdom of Efon Alaaye in Ekiti is set to play host to the crème de la crème of the society on November 4 when dignitaries will converge to celebrate history with the launch of a book titled “Ooni Obalufon Alayemore, in honour of the founder of Efon Alaaye Kingdom.

The celebration of history which is being spear headed by Oba (Dr.) Adesanya Aladejare, the Obalufon Alayemore and Alaaye of Efon Kingdom will be chaired by Aare Afe Babalola while His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi will be the royal father at the event.

The Ekiti State Governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, is the Chief host of the event which will parade eminent personalities including Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN).

The book which will be presented for launch at the Civic Centre in Efon Alaaye is authored by a researcher and historian, Prince Adelegan Adegbola, and is a follow up to an earlier publication on Ile Ife. The book is expected to set records straight and expose the linkage between Efon Alaaye to Ile Ife through the record breaking Ooni Obalufon Alayemore, a man who reigned twice as Ooni and the first Alaaye of Efon kingdom.

Giving hint about the historical Odyssey of the legendary Ooni, the Alaaye, Oba Aladejare said the book tells the true relationship between Ile-Ife and Efon Alaaye, noting that history is sacrosanct. “It is a notorious fact that the source of Yoruba history is from Ile-Ife”.
