After a long break from her music during which she ventured into politics, among other endevours, veteran musician, Onyeka Onwenu is back on the music scene with a big bang following the release of three new videos.
Onwenu, who has proved to be a woman of many parts following her achievements in other fields, has remained a force to reckon with in the entertainment industry and beyond as her evergreen songs such as “One Love” and “You and I Will Live as One” is still widely accepted.
“I have been in this business for over 35 years and I am still doing songs that are being asked for, valued, cherished, as well as enjoyed. I see this as a gift and divine grace from God.
“Music is timeless and adaptable to any situation, especially my previous works, such as ‘One Love’, “Iyo Gogo”. You find new artistes wanting to record what we have done in the past. It is a gift and God’s grace; even the new ones are so acceptable because they are evolving and the younger ones are able to appreciate them,” she said.
Speaking on her new works, the Elegant Stallion, as she is fondly called revealed, during a television interview, that the new works are songs after her heart, adding that, “It states basically that God answers all prayers. It may not be at the time one wants it or the way one wants it. He will answer it in is own time and in His own design. I will advise people to be careful of what they pray for, because they will surely get it. The good God that we serve does things according to His will and words. The other track entitled: “I Go Follow” is my exuberant confirmation of my Lord Jesus who I am following. I cannot deny it. I want to shout it and spread it across that this is who I am, while the third track entitled: “Arumba” is about young girls, which I have been so passionate to deal with all my life. I have always shunned the act of female trafficking, prostitution, slavery, among other challenges the girl child face in the society. This song is another avenue to advocate against these problems.”
