Only NEC can resolve APC problem ― Giadom

Factional chairman of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC), Chief Victor Giadom, has dismissed the swearing-in of Mr Worgu Boms as his replacement in the National Working Committee (NWC) as Deputy National Secretary.

Giadom said the only solution to the crisis rocking the ruling party can only be resolved by the convocation of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to ratify all decisions so far taken by the national working committee.

He maintained that anything short of that would be efforts in futility.

Giadom was deputy national secretary before he secured the court order that empowered him as a factional chairman of the party a position himself and Senator Abiola Ajimobi are laying claims to.

He maintained that he was elected at the convention of the party which is the right and proper way to be in the National working committee and declared the swearing-in of Boms as an illegal arrangement that is laughable.

His words: “That is laughable, I am sure you know I was elected at the convention. We have told Nigerians that, that level of impunity and rascality must be corrected.

“You cannot smuggle somebody into the national working committee without an election. Anybody who wants to be a member of the national working committee should present himself for a democratically conducted election.

“You cannot just bring somebody from anywhere to come and fill an office in the national working committee that is laughable and cannot work.”

When asked if the party will not shortchange itself over the Edo primaries as it did in Zamfara.

He restated that the only route to resolving the challenge in the party would be to submit the NWC to a higher organ of the party that has been constituted to ratify the decisions of the NWC

He said: “I am very hopeful that the mistakes that were made by the former Chairman will be corrected and we would be on time so that we do not run into that situation.

“I have always insisted at the beginning of this crisis that the only way to resolve this issue is to surrender this party to a higher organ which is the best.

“I am still insisting that the only way to get ourselves out of this mess that the party is in now is convoke a NEC meeting. That is the only route out, I have the feeling that there is no other route to have peace and justice in this party except through a NEC meeting that has been my decision.

“There has to be a NEC meeting. NEC is the higher organ above the NWC, I do not see why they are afraid. You have to surrender this organ so that the right would be done and every other decision that has been taken by the leadership would be ratified by NEC.

“So if we do not have NEC meeting, it would be difficult to resolve this crisis,” Giadom submitted.
