The Onicha-Ugbo Patriotic Union (OPU) has inaugurated an ultramodern corpers lodge at Onicha Ugbo Mixed Secondary School in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The lodge having 10 self-contained rooms and a comfortable sitting room is designed to accommodate 20 corps members.
This is in line with the Federal Government’s policy for communities or institutions to provide conducive accommodation for corps members posted to any location across the country.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the President-General of the union, Mr. Ndubuisi Osemeke, explained that “corps members posted to the school will live in an attractive and well-furnished apartment that would make their stay in the community comfortable with memorable experience”
He advised the management of the school to make sure that adequate security was provided to secure the corps members as well as the facilities in the lodge.
In her welcome address, principal of the school, Mrs Magdalene Okonkwo, expressed appreciation to the OPU for the actualisation of the project and also to the sons and daughters of the community who had contributed in one way or the other for the development of the school, just as she appreciated the state government for the ongoing perimeter fencing of the school.
The principal appealed to the state government to post science teachers and security personnel to the school
