A yet to be identified young man has been reportedly killed in a clash involving suspected members of rival cult groups in Ilorin, Kwara State capital on Sunday.
An eyewitness account revealed that the incident happened within the premises of the section of Okelele Junior Secondary School Ilorin, in the Ilorin East local government area.
The source, who said that the suspected assassins came in a tricycle fully armed with the dangerous weapons, added that the victim had been on assassin’s death list and his movement had been under watch before he was finally tracked down in the school.
It was gathered that the victim suffered gruesome death as he was strangulated and macheted to death by his assailants.
An eyewitness also confirmed that clayed blood of the victim was seen on the ground, just as security personnel in the school said that two suspects were arrested by the Nigeria Police while the remains of the victim were evacuated by the police.
Speaking on the development, the state police public relations officer (PPRO), Ajayi Okasanmi, said that the command had commenced an investigation into the matter, adding that investigation would reveal actual nature of the crime.
The PPRO, who frowned at what he described as the hurried burial of the victim by his relations, said that autopsy should have been carried out on the corpse before the eventual burial.
