One-day commissioner of education in Kano tasks govt to double effort on education

A teenager Al-zubair Bashir who has emerged as a one– day Kano State commissioner of education. has called on the state government to double its efforts on the education of the most vulnerable children in the state.

He elaborated that government should make education available to the most vulnerable among us, such as blind, deaf and dumb children and at no cost.

However, Mr Bashir and the children ran the affairs of the state Ministry of Education in commemoration of the World Children’s Day (WCD) 2020 which lasted for two hours.

Addressing journalists about the outcome of children’s deliberation on issues concerning their colleagues, said the most vulnerable children in the society need more attention from the government.

Education should be available for all children with little or no cost. Government should be able to make education available for all children irrespective of their status in the society.

According to him, this was part of their resolutions at the end of his meeting with the acting heads of departments and agencies under the ministry.

In his words: “This fundamental right to education of a child must eliminate discrimination at all levels of the educational system, set minimum standards, and improve the quality of education through infrastructural capacity-building and strengthening.’

He further disclosed that “Government and public – spirited individuals and organisations should make education accessible for every child. In this light, no child should be discriminated on the basis of gender or disability.”

The one–day commissioner also called on the government to make children’s education flexible and easy in order to promote equitable outcomes for learning.

while handing over the leadership of the ministry to the children, the State’s Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Sanusi Kiru commended the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for organizing the event.

Dr.Kuru then explained that the state government is doing everything possible to ensure that children in the state are giving quality education.
