One-Chance/Kidnapping: Police urge Nigerians to patronise approved parks, vehicles

The Nigerian Police Force Public Relations Officer (FPPRO), Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi has urged Nigerians in the Federal capital territory, Abuja and across Nigeria to ensure they patronise only certified, registered vehicles, and parks.

Prince Adejobi gave this warning to Nigerians via a video message that was made public on Monday, 15th of January, 2024.

Adejobi acknowledged the ongoing menace of one-change and kidnapping but advised Nigerians to stay vigilant by ensuring they patronise only certified commercial vehicles in approved parks and garages.

He also advised private transport and car-hailing-app customers to ensure they confirm the vehicle details on the designated app to make sure the expected vehicle is the one picking them up.

His video message reads:

“If you want to board any vehicle anywhere, make sure these vehicles are registered vehicles marked for commercial purposes.

“All states have designated parks and garages that are known to the government. Let us patronise these government-approved parks.

“Don’t wait for free rides. Patronnise known, certified commercial vehicles.

“If you approach Bolt or Uber, make sure you confirm the number on your application to make sure the real vehicle has come to pick you up.

“These are simple things to do to prevent falling victim to one chance.

“One chance is real and we are working hard to make sure we tackle one-chance criminals.

Recall that on Thursday, 11th of January, 2024, Operatives of Federal Capital Territory Police Command, arrested Chukwudi Okorie, Chibuzor Okorie, both husband and wife, as well as Esther Gabriel, suspected to be in connection with series of one chance robbery activities in the nation’s capital.

More so one-chance robberies have become more frequent in recent times, occurring almost daily and the FCT, Abuja, seems to be the worst hit by the phenomenon.
