Popular movie ‘Tenants of the House’ which was produced by a former member of House of Representatives, Dr Wale Okediran, is set to air across the 36 states in the country following a contract between the producer and state governors which saw it launch first in Ondo State.
The Sunshine State penultimate weekend welcomed the movie as the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu led other members of his cabinet to the private screening of the movie that seeks to address conflict between herdsmen and farmers, among other security challenges facing the country.
According to a statement made available to R on Friday, ‘Tenants of the House’ which chronicled the tenure of the producer in the lower chamber of the National Assembly has continued to draw a large audience because of its thematic concerns which address conflict resolution and prevention, crisis management, democracy, fight against corruption and technicalities of legislation.
These were deemed good enough to educate the Nigerian populace on day-to-day socio-politcal issues and Ondo became the first state to welcome the exhibition.
The ex-lawmaker in the statement revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had been signed between the film producers and the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) to air the film in the 36 states in the country.
“I am glad that we have been able to sign an MoU with the Governors’ Forum to showcase the film across the states in the federation. The timing couldn’t be better.
“This agreement will facilitate the mass education of Nigerians on how to combat security challenges, especially farmers-herdsmen crises, being informed on the workings of the legislative arm of government and the tenets of democracy,” Okediran said.
Excitement has begun in many parts of Nigeria following the development, with film lovers looking forward to the movie being screened in their respective states.
R learnt that the schedule for the airing of the movie in other states will be made public in the coming weeks.
