The Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Olamide Oladiji, has warned residents of communities who are planning to forcefully change headquarters of the newly created Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to desist from such acts.
Oladiji, who issued this strong warning in a statement signed by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Olatunji Oshati, advised such people to approach the court of law and follow due process.
According to the Speaker, all the headquarters of the LCDAs have been passed into law by the State House of Assembly and duly assented to by the state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu.
He described those plans to forcefully change the headquarters of some LCDAs as enemies of progress, calling on the people to collectively join hands together to ensure development.
He said, “The headquarters as listed in the ENACTED law have come to stay and anybody with the ulterior motive to take the laws into his hands to change these names under any disguise without following the due process will face the wrath of the law as they would be acting ultra vires”.
He said the LCDA would bring about rapid development and growth to the state, especially at the grassroots levels.
The Speaker also noted that the creation of the new LCDA will provide job opportunities for the youths at large.
He explained that due process was followed to select the headquarters, calling on all and sundry to embrace it and support the government in its drive to bring about development to Ondo State.
The Speaker, however, expressed appreciation to the state governor of the state for his political will and love for his people by ensuring that the creation of the LCDAS came to reality.
