Ondo promotes 7,075 public servants

GOVERNOR Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has approved the immediate promotion of 7,075 public servants in the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the State.

The Chairman of the Civil Service Commission in the State, Dr Afolabi Adewakun who disclosed this during a press briefing in Akure, Ondo state capital, said the promotion exercise was part of the current administration initiative to encourage and motivate workers in the State.

According to him, about 1,742 core civil servants benefitted from the promotion while 5,333 workers from various government parastatals were also promoted during the 2018 promotion exercise.

Adewakun who said the promotion takes immediate effect disclosed that “I am sure that by now most of the workers must have received their letters of promotion.”

He commended the Akeredolu led administration for giving priority to the welfare of the workers in the State.

Adewakun described the approval as an attestation of the governor’s commitment to the welfare of workers, urging them to reciprocate the gesture through loyalty, hard work and commitment to service.

He said: “I am particularly delighted to say that since the inception of this administration in February 2017, the welfare of workers has always been prioritised by the state governor, through motivation and incentives like this promotion.

“This has birthed higher productivity leading to better service deli Erykah for the people of the state. In continuance of this worker-friendly disposition, he graciously approved the promotion of all deserving office era in the Public Service for the year for the year 2018 despite the economic challenges being experienced in the country at the moment.”

He said the Commission would continue to use the annual promotion exercise to inform and enlighten the public on its mandate as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the country.

He, however, congratulated all the newly promoted officers and also enjoined them to see the promotion as a call for more dedication, diligence and responsibility.

Workers are to remain loyal, discipline and continuously add value as part of measures to reciprocate the good gesture of government.
