This was disclosed by the pioneer PDP chairman in the state, Dr. Jacob Gbakinro, who also stated that arrangements had been concluded to replace the South Senatorial district Chairman of the party, Mr. Debo Ajimuda with an Acting Chairman.
Akinfolarin, who represents Odigbo/ Ile Oluji /Okeigbo Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives, defected to the APC from the PDP in December 2017, with some of his supporters.
Speaking to journalists in Akure, Ondo state capital, Gbakinro lamented about the decline in the fortune of the party in the district, saying the party has been inactive for the past three years in the area.
He said the party has commenced the process of repositioning the party in the southern senatorial district which is regarded as the stronghold of the party in the state.
He said “the crux of this meeting is that in the last three years, the Ondo South Senatorial District has not moved on as it should because we had an elected chairman, who has not performed.
“He has become inactive for whatever reason. We leaders of the district are tired of waiting for him or anybody because we must mover, the party is moving forward.”
Gbakinro stated that the party has appointed a former council Chairman from Ilaje local government area, Tola Alabere, to replace Ajimuda, who hails from the same council.
He expressed concerns over the economic situation, fuel scarcity, recurrent herdsmen attack and several challenges bedevilling the nation, urging Nigerians to vote out APC and President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019.
He described the challenges the nation is facing as “rudderless,” and enjoined Nigerians to abandon the ruling APC and embrace PDP in its effort to rescue the nation and place her on the path of greatness.
The meeting also condemned the assault on their members by alleged APC supporters when organizing a New Year party in Idanre LGA in Thursday, urging Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to call his party members to order.
Also speaking, the National Vice Chairman, South West, Chief Eddy Olafeso, condemned the defection of Akinfolarin and other representatives who dumped PDP for APC, and vowed that the defectors would not go unpunished.
Olafeso said “we are starting a process of recall for Mayowa Akinfolarin who called all PDP leaders evil and that he has actually gone on a journey for political survival.
“We detest that. He took our sweat and blood, and walked away; and thinks he can pee on our heads? We are going to challenge him and recall him. He took the mandate of the people and walked away with it.”
He flayed the Federal lawmaker for describing PDP members as evil, saying it was a slur on the integrity of all the members of the party.
“To compare in terms of capacity and intellectualism, who can Mayowa compete with here among the people that are seated. He will hear from us, now that he says we are evil, we will make him the evil person.
“Whoever takes the sweat of other people and walked away with it; law of Karma is waiting at the corner for him,” Olafeso said.
