Ondo guber: Tinubu seeks poll that reflects people’s will

As Ondo State heads into its governorship election this Saturday, President Bola Tinubu has called for a democratic process in the state that will genuinely reflect the will of the people and their power to freely choose their leaders.

He has urged all political stakeholders and the electorate to uphold peace and decorum and fulfill their civic responsibilities without fear, both before and after the elections.

According to a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information & Strategy, the President commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its diligent preparations for the state’s off-cycle governorship election, particularly its timely distribution of sensitive materials across all 18 local government areas in the state.

He also acknowledged the deployment of security personnel to maintain law and order.

He expressed appreciation for the assurances from the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff that personnel will act professionally and adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act to ensure a credible electoral process.

President Tinubu reminded all political stakeholders, especially the candidates, that the people bestow the privilege to govern, and this right must be respected and not undermined.

He emphasized that it is in the best interest of all Nigerians to ensure a free and fair election and to consolidate our over 25 years of democratic governance.
