The pioneer leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo state, known as APC Aborigines, said it has commenced grassroots mobilisation for Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November governorship election in the state.
The Coordinator of the Aborigines, Ambassador Olusola Iji, who disclosed this during the inauguration of the committee, said the committee has begun house-to-house mobilisation across the 18 local governments of the state to garner support for Aiyedatiwa.
Iji said the body would work independently of the campaign council of the party, assuring that no fewer than 200,000 votes would be delivered for Aiyedatiwa by the aborigines group.
The former Ambassador stated that Aiyedatiwa had demonstrated exemplary leadership skills, which have earned him the admiration and respect of many across the local government areas of the state
According to him, the Aborigines group has set up a 10-man committee in each of the 18 local government areas with a view to securing 200,000 votes in the November governorship election in the state.
.
He, however, said Ondo APC Aborigines also set up a five-man committee in each polling unit and ward, saying this was put in place to consolidate power and secure a successful future for the APC in the state.
He said the job of the committee is to mobilise support and voters for Aiyedatiwa in the election and to ensure that 55 voters vote for the APC on election day for Aiyedatiwa.
Ambassador Iji stated that the over 200,000 votes from the Aborigene canvassers would spur Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to victory at the polls.
He said, “We have five-member canvassers at the ward and at the unit level. Each member is to mobilise 10 voters to vote for the party on election day.
“We are now strategizing towards conducting an independent campaign for Aiyedatiwa. We want to put in structures that will mobilise many registered voters at the polling units.
“We are targeting 55 votes per polling unit. That is what we want to contribute to the votes. That is our work plan.
“It looked simple, but we have some work to put in place. We are targeting a minimum of 200,000 votes, and this is possible.
Aiyedatiwa is our preference; he has state-wide acceptance and has the requisite political experience to navigate the state to greatness as governor of the state.
Speaking, the state governor, Aiyedatiwa, appreciated the APC aborigines for their support in ensuring his emergence at the party’s primary.
He, however, urged them not to rest on their oars by ensuring victory for him and APC in the forthcoming governorship election and said it would ensure continuity in the state
