Ondo guber: Analyst drums support for YPP’s Akinmurele

A public affairs analyst, Emiola Tunbosun, has called on the youth population and the people of Ondo State to support the candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), John Akinmurele, during the November 16 governorship election in the state.

Tunbosun, in a statement released and made available to the Nigerian Tribune on Tuesday, explained that the ruling All Progressives Congress and the opposition People’s Democratic Party have failed the people, urging the electorate to reject the two candidates at the poll.

He noted that the YPP candidate has the needed qualities and integrity to lead the state to prosperity, saying that his manifestos provided the needed solutions to the myriad of challenges confronting the state.

Tunbosun, who expressed dismay over the exclusion of Akinmurele from last week’s television debate, said that the APC and the PDP showed they lacked the requisite knowledge and qualities to lead the state.

The statement reads, ” The familiar faces on that debate stage have held positions of influence in Ondo State for years, yet what do we have to show for it? They have left us with a legacy of poverty, insecurity, and decay. Our state continues to suffer from inadequate healthcare, poor education, and a lack of economic opportunities. They have shown no innovation, no progress, and no genuine effort to lift the people out of hardship. As the saying goes, “If you continue to do the same thing, you will keep getting the same results.” Our elders have trusted these leaders in the past, but they have consistently delivered only disappointment.

” Now, Ondo youth, it is time to take a stand. We can no longer afford to be passive as our state falls further behind. Too many of us struggle to pay school fees; basic necessities have become daily struggles, and saving for the future seems like an impossible dream. They have driven our youth to desperation, stripping away opportunities and fostering a culture of despair.

” This is not the Ondo State our forebears dreamed of, a state once vibrant with industries like cocoa farming that once sustained our communities and provided livelihoods for countless families. These leaders have let our heritage wither while leaving the youth with few choices.

” We must organise, mobilise, and establish a structure that will restore hope to Ondo State and protect our future. I urge every Ondo youth to unite behind John Akinmurele Otitoloju, a leader with integrity, experience, and a genuine commitment to the people. His track record speaks volumes.

” As the former President of the Student Union Government at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (2004/2005), he left a legacy of financial prudence, leaving behind N10 million for the Student Union Government, an amount that would translate to over N121 million today. This was at a time when the exchange rate was N132 per dollar. His legacy exemplifies true leadership and fiscal responsibility qualities that our state desperately needs.

” When someone is faithful in small responsibilities, they prove their worthiness for greater ones. Let us act with unity and purpose, recognising that we have the power to shape our future. Let us form a formidable democratic coalition and say no to the old, corrupt leaders who have failed us. It is time to unseat them from power and put in place a leader who genuinely cares for the future of Ondo State.

“Ondo youth, the moment is now. We must rise to this occasion, reject the politics of self-interest, and take back control of our destiny. Let us unite, support John Akinmurele Otitoloju, and pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous Ondo State. Together, we can make history and secure the future we deserve.”
