Ondo govt to procure vehicles, gadgets for security agencies

As part of efforts to enhance the safety of lives and property in the state, Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa of Ondo State said his administration will soon procure vehicles and gadgets for security agencies in the state to enhance the safety of lives and properties.

Ayedatiwa, who disclosed this on Tuesday after a meeting with the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police, State Commander of Amotekun, and other heads of security agencies in the state, in Akure, Ondo state capital.

Aiyedatiwa stressed the need to fortify the security architecture within the state, emphasising a commitment to supporting security agencies with the necessary tools and resources.

He said the purchase of the vehicles is part of the outlined plans to address the pressing issue of mobility, a significant challenge hindering effective policing.

“He said, “We will support our security agencies by providing tools for them and, more importantly, more operational vehicles for them to be able to move around, enabling them to navigate diverse terrains and respond swiftly to security threats.”

The governor, who highlighted the distribution of vehicles to Permanent Secretaries in previous months, aimed to facilitate their movement and operational efficiency.

The governor reiterated his continued commitment to enhancing the welfare of citizens by implementing measures to mitigate the impact of economic challenges

The provision of palliatives to alleviate the effects of fuel subsidy removal and the provision of shuttle buses to civil servants and students exemplify the government’s dedication to supporting the people.

Meanwhile, in demonstrating his commitment to supporting the legislative arm of the state government, the governor presented official vehicles to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abayomi Akinruntan.

It will be recalled that members of the House of Assembly were presented with vehicles last year, but those of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker were not included.

Aiyedatiwa stressed the importance of collaboration among stakeholders and state actors for the overall development of the state.

Speaker of the Assembly, Oladiji, who commends the Governor for keeping to his words, said the vehicles would enhance their legislative responsibilities and foster stronger ties between the Assembly and other branches of government.

The Deputy Governor, Chief Olayide Adelami, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, were also in attendance at the event.
