The invasion of the drivers’ union to the Ondo State House of Assembly where some lawmakers were beaten while the lawmakers fled the state following threats to their lives and thereafter petitioned the IGP on their plight.
It was however gathered that security operatives from the IGP office stormed the state and whisked Adebo away to FCID at Alagbon for questioning.
Stakeholders at a meeting in Akure raised the issued and called on the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in attendance to revisit the issue to avoid anarchy in the state.
A source, however, hinted that “Jacob Adebo, who is the Taxi Driver Chairman in Ondo State, was arrested by security officers in plain clothes who came from Lagos.
“I am very sure he was arrested due to the petition was written against him by some people in the state, especially on the attack on lawmakers of the Ondo State House of Assembly.”
“Presently, he has been taken to Lagos, because I learnt that those guys are from Alagbon, Lagos State, who must have been acting on ‘order from the IGP and the petition.
“You know that no fewer than four different attacks on the members of the public, particularly on journalists critical of government activities, have been supervised by Mr Adebo and his boys in this state.”
Contacted on the arrest, the state Police image maker, Femi Joseph, confirmed the development, saying that those who arrested Adebo came from Lagos state.
Joseph said, “Yes, it is true but I can only say he was invited because our men came from Lagos and moved him out of Ondo State.”
The police spokesperson said the chairman of the union, ” has already been moved to Lagos probably for questioning.”
However, members of the Union in the state declined to comment on the arrest of Adebo.
