Ondo APC aspirant, Oyedele, pays medical bill of cancer patient

A governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, and the Executive Director of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Ifeoluwa Oyedele, on Wednesday, offset medical bills of a student of Bishop Philip Academy, Ibadan, Oyo state, Tobias Sunday, battling with maxillofacial cancer.

Oyedele who visited the young boy made available the needed sum for the care pledged to take responsibility for his cancer treatment and also offset the bill.

According to him, he learnt about the pathetic story of Sunday on the pages of newspaper and was touched by the plight of the boy who needed the sum of N450,000 to proceed on surgery and give him a new lease of life.

He said he decided to stretch a helping hand to the boy to reduce his pains and return to school, describing the cancer patient as young promising boy.

He said the development has forced the boy out of school owing to pains resulting from swollen tongue and neck, which has also prevented him from talking and eating.

Oyedele who was represented by one of his aides, Dipo Okeyomi, said Oyedele was moved to tears on reading the story of the boy and instructed that his team take action to advance the needed amount.

A representative of the family, Precious Sunday, who received the cheque on behalf of the family commended the gesture of Oyedele, saying “our family will never forget this gesture to save the life of our dear son.

According to him, Sunday’s ailment started around March 2019 but said the gesture came at the last minutes when all hope was lost and prayed for the governorship hopeful for coming to their aid.

Doctors at Ondo State Teaching Hospital Akure, had diagnosed and confirmed that Sunday is suffering from Cancer of the mandible and was referred to the University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan.

He was billed to undergo three stages of cancer treatment: the Surgical, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy at UCH, Ibadan.
