Ondo APC: Aiyedatiwa’s bid receives boost as another group declares support

The bid by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2024 election has got a boost with the Mato Mandate Group declaring its support for the governor.

The caucus group in Ondo APC comprises more than 7,000 professionals, among other major stakeholders, who are card-carrying members of the party.

The MMG, which announced the endorsement of the governor, on Thursday, ahead of the party primary coming up on April 25, described it as the collective voice of the caucus members spread across the local government areas of the state.

The convener of the group, Mathew Oye Oyerinmade, explained in a statement that the backing followed wide and meticulous consultations, as well as a rigorous selection process in the effort to further firm up MMG support for Governor Aiyedatiwa.

He said the endorsement underscored MMG’s “unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, ethical leadership, good governance and community well-being within the APC and the good people of Ondo State.

“With over 7000 card-carrying APC members in our ranks, our support for Governor Ayedatiwa is a substantial asset, especially under the direct primary mode of the election.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa’s exceptional track record and dedication to our party’s values make him the ideal candidate to lead Ondo State forward.

“This endorsement followed a comprehensive selection process conducted by a panel commissioned by Mato Mandate Group.

“Through extensive consultations both within and outside MMG, the panel ensured a thorough understanding of the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Ondo State,” he emphasised.

He assured that MMG was set to leverage its extensive membership base to “rally unequivocal support for Governor Aiyedatiwa” in his determination to create a new vista for the state.

He said through grassroots mobilisation, community engagement initiatives and strategic outreach efforts, MMG would ensure that the governor’s message resonates deeply among party members and the broader electorate.

The convener assured that the MMG remained resolute and uncompromising in its “commitment to actively shaping the future of the APC and Ondo State under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s exemplary leadership and advocacy for policies that promote transparency, accountability, and social progress will continue to drive the caucus agenda.”

He enjoined other party members and the people of the state to queue behind Governor Aiyedatiwa’s candidacy as the primary draws near; stressing that it was an opportunity “for all stakeholders to forge a path towards a brighter, more prosperous future for our party and our beloved state.”
