Ondo APC adopts consensus mode of election during ward congress ― Isiaka

Published by

The Chairman of the Ondo State Ward Congress Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Gboyega Isiaka, on Wednesday, disclosed that the party in the state had adopted a consensus mode of election before the arrival of the committee from the national.

Isiaka who stated this while briefing newsmen at the Party Secretariat in Akure, Ondo State capital, said with the development, there was no parallel election of party executives into the 203 wards throughout the state.

Isiaka who admitted that there were little skirmishes during the ward congress said all issues arising from the congress had been resolved by the party leaders and the committee.

He maintained that the adoption of the consensus mode of the election made the job of the committee who visited all the three senatorial districts easier, saying the ward congress was conducted throughout the state without any hitch.

He commended members of the party for their understanding, peaceful conduct during the ward congress, noting that the APC remains a party to be in the state.

Isiaka said: “The state APC had opted for consensus mode across the 203 wards in the state. We got contacts of about 50 major party stakeholders in the state and we got assurance from them that everybody has agreed to the consensus.

“Though it would be far from the truth if the committee claimed that there was no dissenting voice in any of the 203 wards during the congress across the state.

”Of course, to cover 203 wards, we cannot say that all the places are 100 per cent satisfactory.

“There are few skirmishes in few places which have been resolved in the last 24 hours.

“It’s less than five per cent of the entire 203 wards that we have, because it’s just one or two local council areas and like I said, they have been resolved.

“We have the names of the ward executives which are about 27 per ward for onward submission to the national secretariat.”

The chairman commended the State governor, the state Acting Chairman, Mr Ade Adetimehin and party members for their support, cooperation and assistance.

“With the kind of cooperation that we got among the members and everyone, APC remains a party to beat,” he said.
