Ondo 2024: I’ll end poverty, if elected — Ola Mafo

A former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an aspirant of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, Hon. John Ola Mafo, has promised to conquer poverty in the state if elected as the state governor.

Mafo made the promise after picking his expression of interest and nomination forms at the National Secretariat of the party, Wadata House, Abuja, on Wednesday, saying poverty will be a thing of the past.

The former commissioner in the state said he would deploy all the human and material resources God had bestowed on the state to move it out of poverty, noting that the state was blessed with abundant natural resources, which would be deployed to change the fortune of the state.

Mafo assured that his candidacy would bring the people of the state together. He said his wealth of experience would be brought to bear, and if he wins the primary election, his candidature would also unite the party.

He assured the people that a people-oriented government is on the horizon with the coming of PDP.

“I am the right man to lead the PDP for the emancipation of the people of Ondo from the penury and stagnancy to which the ruling APC government has subjected them in the last eight years. My quest to progressively drive Ondo State forward is the only reason I am contesting; no other person is running with me, and I am sure of winning this race,” he said.

He stated that all the policy somersaults which have become the hallmark of the APC government will become a thing of the past.

John Ola Mafo served as a commissioner under former Governors Olusegun Agagu and Olusegun Mimiko.

The Aheri Ilaje-born lawyer remains the only aspirant who has never defected from the party since 1999.

He was the Secretary of the State Elders Committee of the Ondo State chapter of PDP, and he is generally accepted across all tendencies.
