Ondo 2020: Abstain from divisive tendencies, Akeredolu tells Boroffice

Ahead of the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State, the state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, on Sunday, called on the leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to rise above and shun divisive tendencies in order to build a better and unified party for the election.

Akeredolu who stated this while reacting to a statement credited to one of the party leaders in the state, and lawmaker representing Ondo North senatorial district, Senator Ajayi Borroffice, urged the lawmaker to walk on the path of peace rather than sowing the seed of discord in the party.

In the statement signed by Akeredolu’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Segun Ajiboye, said the governor would have love to wave the vituperations from Boroffice aside but it became necessary to let the public know that the castigating was a result of Boroffice’s deflated hopes.

The statement read “Our initial perception of the pernicious outburst of the senator was to ignore him because such was misguided.

“At best, empathy was most desirable for a man whose lust for excessive mischief has severally spurred him to paths of perfidy against his South-West kinsmen.

“However, the public, especially all lovers of our dear party, the APC deserve to know that the vituperations of Senator Borofice are fallouts of deflated hopes.

“This is more so that his huge investment to destroy the party and stem the pace of development in Ondo State appears to have yielded no positive results.”

Akeredolu maintained that all qualified member of the party ha the right to contest in any election but should be restrained from tearing the party apart with their ambition.

“Just as the government of Ondo State led by Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, believes in the right of all qualified persons to aspire to be governor, it is perhaps, untoward on the part of supposed leaders to be unrestrained in the pursuit of their ambitions.

“Governor Akeredolu is not a desperate politician. He is not threatened by any gang-up in respect of the 2020 governorship race. His belief in the sanctity of the people’s backing remains unshaken,” the statement stated.
