The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday ordered the immediate release of the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS) since August 3, 2019.
The trial judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, on Tuesday said that the release was contingent on the ground that the order that was made on August 8, 2019 had elapsed.
The judge had on August 8, 2019 while delivering ruling brought by the DSS ordered the detention of Sowore for a period of 45 days to enable officers of the DSS conclude their investigation into the allegation of treasonable felony and charges brought against him.
Justice Taiwo had, however, ordered that Sowore should not be detained any longer since his 45 days detention had elapsed and there was no concrete evidence to the allegations.

Meanwhile, since Tuesday, 24 September that the ruling was made, Sowore is yet to be set free.
This is not a good act because the judicial system of Nigeria provides that once a judge or justice gives a judgment, the judgment should be taken seriously.
I am now using this medium to advice the DSS to give regard to the judicial system and set Omoyele Sowore free from their custody.
I also urged the Federal Government to ensure that the DSS obeys the rule of law so that everything can be in order.
